Odd creatures spotted climbing the walls in Florence

The street art exhibition by Simone D’Auria located in Vicolo dell’Oro, a small alley near the Ponte Vecchio will be visible until January 15th, 2015. The Italian artist and graphic designer made 18 white statues, half man half beast inspired by famous characters who played an important role in Florence’s development and history.

For example the turtle with a sail stands for Cosimo I, symbol of prudence combined with the power of at ion,; a rhino for Alessandro de’ Medici, to symbolise his strength and strong will.

According to the artist it is the goal of “Personal/Unpersonal Reflections” to send a positive message to all tourists and visitors. An invitation to go forever forward whatever the challenge can be, to climb up, to innovate themselves, beyond their limits.
